The Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Cultural Studies (BACCS) Class of 2015 at the University of Malawi has made a remarkable mark in the literary landscape with the launch of a book titled “The Pioneer’s Pen: An Anthology of Creative Writing”.
The publication captures the graduates’ academic and creative journey through an inspiring collection of literary works.
Speaking during the launch, Head of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Dr Anthony Gunde, commended the graduates for their collaborative spirit, describing the publication as a milestone that reflects the department’s growing culture of academic creativity and innovation.
The book’s editor, Gracious Mulinga, highlighted that it showcases a diverse range of literary forms ranging from poetry and short stories to speeches, social commentaries and opinion pieces, all drawn from the writers’ lived experiences and intellectual explorations.
Guest of honour during the launch, Professor Ken Lipenga Jr., congratulated the writers and expressed hope that they will continue the legacy of great Malawian authors like Steve Chimombo, who also emerged from the University of Malawi.
