The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has expressed satisfaction with the administration of this year’s Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations, describing the process as smooth and incident-free since the examinations commenced on Monday.
Speaking to Chanco Community Radio, MANEB Public Relations Officer, Angela Kashitigu, said the board is pleased with the manner in which the examinations are being conducted across the country.
“We are satisfied with the way the JCE examinations are progressing. Candidates have been adhering to examination regulations and so far, no security-related incidents have been recorded since the examinations began,” said Kashitigu.
A spot check conducted by Chanco Community Radio in selected examination centres in Zomba established that candidates are writing their examinations in a conducive environment, with examination materials arriving on time and invigilators carrying out their duties effectively.
Meanwhile, Kashitigu has urged candidates to continue observing examination rules and avoid any form of malpractice as the examinations progress.
“We encourage all candidates to remain disciplined, follow examination regulations and refrain from any form of examination malpractice. This will help ensure that the examinations are completed successfully,” she said.
A total of 166,652 candidates registered for this year’s JCE examinations nationwide, with education stakeholders expressing optimism for a successful and incident-free examination period.
