FDH Bank has donated sanitation equipment worth K5 million to Phalombe District Council to help improve hygiene and promote a clean environment.

The donation, which includes wheelbarrows, shovels, hoes and rakes, is expected to assist communities in maintaining proper waste management and reduce the risk of disease outbreak.

Speaking during the handover, Phalombe District Commissioner, Yobu Makina, welcomed the gesture describing it as timely and aligned with President Prof. Peter Mutharika’s directive to keep districts clean.

“We are grateful to FDH Bank for this support. The President instructed us to keep our districts clean. We wrote FDH Bank and other organisations requesting support and we are happy they have responded. As a start, we are launching sanitation activities  in the district this coming Friday,” said Makina.

He called upon other organisations and stakeholders to emulate FDH Bank’s gesture by supporting sanitation initiatives in the district.

FDH Bank Accounts Relationship Manager, Rose Kanyandura, said the donation is part of the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility in ensuring that communities remain healthy.

“We expect people to take care of the equipment wherever it will be used, whether in hospitals or markets, so that sanitation is maintained,” said Kanyandura.

The initiative is expected to benefit several communities across Phalombe, particularly in areas where access to proper sanitation equipment has been a challenge.
