District Commissioner (DC) for Zomba, Musandide Fredrick Misinjo, on Wednesday visited Matawale Health Centre to appreciate operations and challenges facing the facility.
Misinjo, who was accompanied by the Director of Administration, Hastings Dowe, was briefed on population profile, cadres available at the facility, services provided and sanitation as well as waste management services.
The health centre informed the DC on challenges which include, poor water drainage system which sometimes causes water lodging, and insufficient fuel for consistent waste incineration.
Speaking after the tour, Misinjo was impressed to learn about improved delivery of drugs since October, 2025.
“I visited several areas such as the dispensary storage and the maternity roof gutter which is almost damaged,” he said.
Missinjo hailed the health centre’s leadership and members of staff for their dedication to duty saying the facility deserves a 3-Star recognition.
Beatrice Basilolo, who represented the facility in-charge, hailed the DC’s visit, acknowledging his appreciation on service delivery and understanding how staff operate at the facility.
