Minister of Labour, Skills and Innovation, Joel Chigona, on Tuesday toured Nsoni Community Technical College in Chiradzulu to appreciate progress of the project.
Chigona said he was impressed with the project’s progress and he commended the contractor for keeping to the agreed timeline, despite setbacks of heavy rains in recent weeks.
“During our previous visit, there were few challenges, but now I am glad that those challenges have been resolved and the current progress meets our expectations,” he said.
Chigona added that government allocated adequate resources for the project and expects all works to be completed by mid-next month.
He reiterated government’s commitment to building a modern community technical college in every constituency to boost youth skills development nationwide.
Sandstone Building Contractors’ Manager, Chikondi Kazembe, assured the Minister that the company will complete all works on time without compromising standards.
“Let me assure the people of Chiradzulu, and the whole nation, that this project is durable and will last longer. By mid May, we will be able to hand it over to government,” he said.
Group Village Head Chiniko said he was pleased with the project’s progress, saying it will help improve livelihoods in the Nsoni community.
Construction of Nsoni Community Technical College commenced in 2019 and it is expected to offer programs such as Welding, Plumbing, Electrical installation, Tailoring and ICT, once opened.
